Independent/Psychological Medical Evaluations (IME)
Issues addressed in an IME include diagnosis, causation, effects of pre-existing conditions, necessity of treatment, end of healing period, permanence of injury, physical restrictions, second opinion for surgery, or complex medical questions. Our independent examiners review all medical records submitted, take a detailed history, document patient complaints, and answer questions posed based on the medical documentation and films provided. As a value-added service, we will coordinate the use of two or more specialists on the same case.
AME/QME/DIME
Similar to the IME definition above, but state specific to California (AME, QME) or Colorado (DIME) state statute.
Record Review
Our physician network covers a wide range of specialties with record analysis expertise. A record review produces a medical 3rd party opinion without imposition on the injured party. Our medical experts provide comprehensive, evidence-based record reviews by qualified medical experts focused on an assessment of all available medical documentation. A telephonic component may be used whereby physician contact is made with the treating provider to discuss or clarify pertinent medical issues.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) or Physical Capacity Evaluation (PCE)
An FCE/PCE is a comprehensive battery of performance tests used to determine ability for work, activities of daily living, or leisure activities. The FCE quantifies safe functional abilities, and is a pivotal resource for return-to-work and job-placement decisions, disability evaluation, determination of how non-work-related illness and injuries impact work performance, determination of function in non-occupational setting, intervention and treatment planning, case management and case closure.
Short/Long Term Disability Examinations
America’s IME has experienced, effective professionals to perform disability evaluations. We have extensive experience in providing IME services with evidence-based determinations on an employee’s ability to return to work for STD & LTD carriers and FMLA administrators.
Fitness for Duty Exam
A fitness for duty exam will remove the guesswork and provide a reliable opinion about an individual’s ability to safely perform the physical requirement of their position.
Peer Review
Peer Review is a retrospective review of a practitioner’s medical treatment plan to determine the medical necessity and appropriateness of the treatment rendered. This specialized record review offers peer-to-peer review through a teleconference between the independent consultant and the treating practitioner(s).
Case Review
This service is ideal for attorneys who are undecided about whether to pursue a particular case or wish to obtain an informed opinion as to the medical issues presented. A case review can be invaluable to a decision plus save attorneys and their clients time and resources by providing - up front - an authoritative, impartial and expert analysis of a client's medical records.
Diagnostic Film Review
An independent radiologist will provide a written interpretation of submitted x-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, or other diagnostic studies. A narrative report will be provided and can also include a review of submitted medical records and answers to specific questions. A comparison of two or more studies for the same body part can be made using this service.
Surgical Opinions
Our group of physicians are highly trained in their area of specialty and can provide second opinions of surgery. Physicians will formulate a recommendation after reviewing past history and performing a physical examination.

Cover Letter Preparation
The America’s IME Medical Management team is here to prepare or assist and clarify medical issues when you prepare a cover letter. Some states statutes prevent the creation of a cover letter by a third party. However, we are versed in and can guide you through or provide samples of the key elements of a quality cover letter.
In-house Medical Management Team
Our in-house team of RN’s and physicians use their experience and knowledge to assist in questions you may have about your case and to scrutinize the final report for accuracy.
Testimony and Depositions
Experts with America’s IME are available. We will coordinate all arrangements for depositions or live testimony.
Travel Arrangements
Occasionally travel arrangements need to be made for the physician or examinee. We are happy to coordinate air, ground and lodging while keeping your budget in mind.
Interpreter Scheduling
America’s IME has access to and will make all arrangements for interpreter service when needed.
